Our Story

Ryan and Morgen’s paths crossed in Bozeman Montana in the fall of 1993. Ryan had moved to Bozeman after growing up in Casper, Wyoming and Morgen found herself transplanted from Phoenix, Arizona. In 2001 they were married at the Historic Gallatin Gateway Inn halfway between Bozeman and Big Sky.

They made their home here in southwest Montana and have explored the region extensively. They always look forward to finding those special hidden and out of the way places. Their travels have taken them all over the world including trips to southeast Asia, Central America, South America, Canada, and all over the western U.S. Still, they are always amazed at what they have right in their own backyard.

Ryan has worked in the travel industry for five summers as an adventure guide. His guiding experience includes hiking, biking and rafting throughout the western U. S. He is an EMT-B and swift water rescue certified. The last six winters Ryan has been a professional Ski Patroller at Big Sky Ski Resort. The winters of 2003 and 2004 he also worked at the Lone Mountain Ranch Nordic Center as a nordic ski instructor.

Morgen graduated from Montana State University with a degree in Earth Sciences. For several summers she was an instructor with The Montana Outdoor Science School. There she developed educational programs for children and teens. She was involved with the Interagency Grizzly Bear Study team in 1996 for an internship in Yellowstone National Park. She has always been an avid traveler spending three months in southeast Asia traveling solo.

In their travels Ryan and Morgen have experienced all levels of guided tours,from a riverboat into the pampas of Bolivia and Camp Mosquito, to elephant safaris in Nepal’s Royal Chitwan National Park. In the summer of 2004 they decided to embark on their next adventure, Mountain Ayres Adventures. This was a way for them to combine their passion for the outdoor with their experience of guiding and traveling. They invite you to join them on an adventure of your own.
